Oz en Oisans is a quiet and attractive resort situated in the heart of L’Oisans region in the French Alpes. The 2 ski runs that link Oz with the main ski area are both north facing and serviced by snow cannons guaranteeing snow all season.
Oz has a supermarket, a bundle of attractive shops, a cinema, a nursery, plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars. ‘La Ferme d’Oz’ restaurant is attached to Le Chalet des Neiges and is highly recommended. The Ozzie bar part of the Oz Hotel has karaoke and live music nights.
There are also regular shuttle buses to Vaujany which has a full size indoor skating rink with regular ice hockey matches, a 4 lane bowling alley and two free museums.
In addition it is a short drive or bus journey down the mountain to Oz village or Allemont where there are further restaurants and shops.
As part of Les Grandes Rouses ski area and with quick access to Alpe D’huez, the area is a prime location for many winter sports, ranging from cross country skiing, sledging to traditional downhill skiing. The incredible views of La Meije and Les Ecrins will be something you never forget. For the really brave it is only half an hours drive to the top ‘ski extreme’ resort in the world: La Grave. Or you can hire a guide and ski ‘hors piste’ off the back of Le Pic Blanc – the highest lift serviced point of the area at 3,300metres
In the summer, the green and luscious mountain scenery comes alive, with many choosing to walk, cycle, climb, enjoy the Tour de France, which visits often, or just sit and relax on the balcony….
